Celebrate Holi with Sakina

Celebrate Holi with Sakina In-Person

Come learn about Holi (celebrated this year on March 14) and head outside to throw colored powder in celebration. Participants are encouraged to wear white clothes so the colors can pop! The colored powder is completely machine washable, like sidewalk chalk.

This program is for all ages.

Individual registration required so we can get an accurate headcount for how much color to get!

Holi is a sacred Hindu holiday also known as the Festival of Colors that is celebrated around the world. It focuses on love, goodness, and positive energy and marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring. It is celebrated most on the Indian subcontinent, but has spread around the world in the Indian Diaspora. Festivities include bonfires and a fun fight where everyone is showered with colored powder.

About Sakina:

As a first-generation Indian American, Sakina's love for Bollywood dance blossomed from a young age, influenced by the vibrant rhythms and infectious energy of Indian cinema, thanks to her mom and sister. Since the age of 4, dance has been an integral part of her life, exploring various styles, but Bollywood always held a special place in her heart. Sakina's dance journey over the last two decades has been constantly evolving, ranging from participating in community cultural shows, to competitively dancing on a Bollywood Fusion dance team, to performing at several friends' weddings, to choreographing in front of her mirror. Bollywood With Sakina was born out of a desire for her own son to experience the same love and joy for Bollywood dance that her mother instilled in her (and also because she always wanted an excuse to dance).
